Dr. Curtis Barnett graduated from Colorado State University with an undergraduate degree and was also enrolled in the Masters Degree program. He completed 4 years of Cancer research at the Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Florida and graduated from the University of Florida Veterinary School in 1982. Dr. Barnett moved to Carlisle after veterinary school for better career opportunities. He was employed by Dr. Robert Rill for 6 months before Dr. Rill retired to Florida for health reasons. This afforded Dr. Barnett the opportunity to purchase the Carlisle Small Animal Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Barnett married Dr. Holly Wendell in 1989 and he is the “father” to two furkids, a Pit Bill Mix named Bodie, and a cat named Munchie.

Dr. Laura Liggitt, DVM

Dr. Laura attended York College of Pennsylvania for undergrad and majored in biology. She graduated from Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Laura grew up in Carlisle, Pa and went to Cumberland Valley High School. She enjoys being a vet because it is a profession that allows you to improve the lives of animals and people. In her spare times she enjoys spending time with her husband and their 2 dogs and cat. Her hobbies include horseback riding, running, and hiking.

Justin Eckenrode, D.V.M, M.S

Dr. Justin Eckenrode has come full circle in his journey to become a veterinarian. He is a 1999 graduate of Carlisle High School before attending Penn State University receiving his BS degree in Animal Bioscience in 2003. Justin then began work at the Carlisle Small Animal Veterinary Clinic in the summer of 2003 as a veterinary assistant. During his time at the clinic, he attended Shippensburg University for his MS degree in Biology. After graduation in 2006 Justin attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts, West Indies. During that time he was president of SVECCS (Emergency & Critical Care Club) and student representative for the Hill’s Pet Food Company. He then attended the Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine for his clinical year before receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in June 2010 and returning home to Carlisle. Justin also brought home an adorable lab/heeler rescue mix named Colbie and two adorable cats named Darby and Mac. His newest addition, Murray, is hard to miss! When he isn’t working, Justin’s interests include: training for triathlons (I am an Ironman!), running, skiing and music. His wife Jennifer is also a veterinarian in Harrisburg, PA. He and his wife just celebrated the birth of a new baby girl Annalie!
